Laia Santanach

Choreographer, dancer and pedagogue resident in Barcelona with more than 14 years of experience.


As a choreographer she has created several pieces since 2013 and from 2014 she directs her own project.


Group creations like '1714' with the support of ICUB and Lavinia or 'Now' by Cobosmika Seed's, winner of the Support for the Creation Award at the MIT'S 2017 festival.

In collaboration with other choreographers she has created 'S'he' together with the Roser Tutusaus, with Residence Prize at La Caldera within the GRUA or 'Vaivé' project with Miquel Barcelona, ​​with the Tanzhaus Zürich Residence Prize at the Choreographic Competition of Madrid .

In 2017 she presented 'Replica', a finalist piece at the 2017 Institut del Teatre Award, with a short version of the Mercat de les Flors.


She choreographed part of Móbilus from the visual theater company cia.Addaura, finalist for the MAX 2016 awards and HIRAETh in collaboration with filmmaker Ignasi Castañé by Cobosmika Seed’s 2019. 

She has also created two solos 'Vàcua' and 'Ballant Ballàvem', the latter presented to the Sismògraf 2017 and still turning.

She has performed the choreographic assistance of the Du'K'To company with his latest show, "Cafuné", directed by Pau Portabella and with the same director, 'E'go' with cia Dikothomia with a Prize for the best street show in Umore Azoka Leioa

Also the choreographic assistance of the LEK with Cia Siu'giu 'Circus and ‘Via Via’  for Circooltura.


In 2018 she was the winner of the Delfí Colomé Prize for her new project Àer.


As a dancer she has worked in several national and international companies (Pepe Hevia Dance, Plan B Dance, Trànsit, Idan Sharabi, La Petita Malumaluga, Teresa Nieto en Compañía, Elephant in the Black Box, Cia Vero Cendoya and Gelabert-Azzopardi). She has also worked for prestigious stage directors such as Liliana Cavani, Àlex Ollé (La Fura dels baus), Joan Font (Comediants), Àlex Rigola (Teatro Stabile del Veneto).


As a teacher, she has given classes in different spaces and training centers (Area, UAB, Nunart, Rogelio Rivel School, Descalzhina, CobosMika SEEDs and teaching support tasks at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona during 6 years).

In 2016, she creates the Menorca Dance Festival, which she continues to direct.
